OUR MISSION The mission of our congregation is to praise God and proclaim the message of Jesus Christ, to reach out with this message to people of all backgrounds and cultures, and to create a community of Christian support, love, and forgiveness. (Adopted by Church Council & Congregation, 2002) Grounded in the grace of God, our congregation is committed to welcoming and serving all people. We continually build on our roots as a neighborhood church and reach beyond our geographic boundaries to the larger community and the world. Our congregation shares core values in celebrating God’s amazing grace in Jesus Christ and growing in faith, fellowship and service. |
| THE CORE OF OUR LIFE AND MISSION IS: - Biblical Witness
Luke 24:44-48 Both the Hebrew and Christian scriptures bear witness to God’s ongoing, saving activity in the world. The Holy Scriptures are at the heart of our worship life, education programs and mission outreach.
- Worship
Colossians 3:16 As we gather around Word, Font and Table, we experience God’s gift of unity with the entire body of Christ. Here the God of grace forms us into a community of forgiveness and hope, and equips us to be Christ’s body in the world. The liturgy, the beauty of music and stained glass, the participation of our worship servers (both young and old), and faithful biblical preaching animate our life and mission in Christ.
- Hospitality and Justice
Luke 6:20-38 The Gospel is for all people; rich and powerful as well as the poor and powerless. God’s Spirit calls and gathers us into a diverse community of faith with a variety of gifts. Together, confident of God’s power to reconcile and heal, we serve those who are vulnerable, hurting and oppressed.
- Biblical Study and Learning
John 14:26-27 Bible study, faithful reflection and prayerful discernment are important ways God's Spirit builds our faith and understanding so that we may live and serve in God's world. We commit ourselves to ongoing bible study, conversation and prayer so we may faithfully discern God's work in, among, and through us.
